This week’s warm weather has ushered in the season’s trench coat-clad New Yorkers, iced coffee in hand, en route to who knows where—ready to leave winter firmly in the rearview. The comfortable temperatures feel like an invitation to linger outside, and the irresistible promise of spring has everyone excited—myself included!
We've been spending lots of time outdoors lately, so I wanted to share some random snapshots from my phone (I don’t always lug my camera around). Here are some fun scenes from the past week, proving that the best days are still ahead.
P.S. On Friday I’ll be sharing a roundup of my ten favorite spots for cherry blossoms in the city. Stay tuned!
Starting with the best first: this jaw-dropping performance in Central Park. In a city as stimulating as New York, it’s rare for something to stop me in my tracks. This guy (Abraham Boyd) is an exception, he apparently sells out stadiums - unbelievable talent! Rewatching it gives me all the feels.
Speaking of the park, spring blooms are cropping up left and right! The daffodils opened up this week and are carpeting the landscape in pleasant golden pockets.
Walked past these two stylish guys and had to take a quick photo. The trench coats, the stance, the scene — chef’s kiss, all of it!
The first ice cream of the season! Van Leeuwen is my favorite spot for ice cream, the earl grey tea flavor is my go-to. Much more of this to come in the months ahead.
The kid’s section at our local bookstore is mind boggling. I didn’t realize there were so many books about New York! Caroline’s collection is growing, we picked up this gem last week.

The light on The Met steps this morning was gorgeous. I took a long walk to clear my head and used the museum as my turnaround point, it was great to see all the folks mulling about shortly after the museum opened.
Will’s sunglasses met a tragic demise at the end of summer (fell through the crack between the platform and subway). He felt enough time had lapsed since the loss to pick up the next pair, he settled on this polarized pair.
This week, I learned that the public school near our apartment is considered one of the best (the Upper West Side is considered the most family-friendly neighborhood in the city). While walking by, I noticed the after school schedule and found myself thoroughly impressed.
Wild to think these kids have the option to learn cooking (Chef’s Corner, Junior Chef), pick up Spanish, dive into coding, chess, robotics, etc. We haven't gone down the education rabbit hole yet—school's still five years away—but seeing so many opportunities at a public school already has me feeling optimistic.
I've been spotting so many cozy sweaters around town lately! The most stylish contenders seem to be a toss-up between this this classy wool/cotton mix and this pretty color.
In sweet news: Levain’s seasonal lemon cookie is back! This is my brother-in-law’s favorite treat from the bakery (fighting words, considering I'm ride-or-die oatmeal raisin). But I have to give credit where credit is due—it’s perfectly tangy, sweet, and checks every box. It should stick around through spring, so if you’re visiting in the next few months, I recommend giving it a try!
Cheers!
Thanks for sharing spring in the city!! 🌸
Fun photos of the city. I really enjoyed that.
