Confession time: I’ve never made a gift guide before. I don’t know why, mostly because I don’t really shop using them myself, but some readers asked for a few recommendations for fun stocking stuffers and gift ideas for those that love New York.
Well, there’s no time like the present. This isn’t a comprehensive list because I’m running on four hours of sleep (🫠), but here goes! Here’s five things I have around the house that I personally use and enjoy. consider this a roster call of my tried-and-true gifts for other New Yorkers.
New York City Themed Gifts Even Locals Will Love
Iconic New York City coffee mug (ceramic)
Why I love it: You’ll see the paper version of these cups all over New York (I passed two cops using them yesterday morning) and in famous shows filmed in NYC. They’re colorful and fun, we use ours for morning coffee.
Pretty City New York
Why I love it: Living in a 450 square foot apartment means I’m picky about the things I buy. I currently own three coffee books, one of which is Pretty City New York. Why? The photos are inspirational! Even for a local! I reference the images in the book often when planning a day out.

I’m a sucker for cute NYC illustrations and this Etsy shop is my go to when I get gifts for freinds. The gal is so talented!
This is New York children’s book
We bought a handful of New York City specific children’s books for Caroline, but nothing tops This Is New York by Miroslav Sasek. Originally published in 1960, it’s a fun trip down memory lane, (“the Empire State Building is the tallest building in the world.”). GREAT illustrations, we read it to the baby often.

Perfect for earrings and stray keys, I own two of these and find them adorable.
