Showing Little Bird this year’s window displays!

When it comes to breathtaking window displays, Bergdorf Goodman takes the cake. Never to be outdone, the luxury department store’s displays take up to 10 months to bring to life, which means designers hit the ground running shortly after the Rockefeller Tree bows out for the season.

Designed to dazzle and inspire, these elaborate displays soar to heights of 13 feet with themes that vary from year to year (2024 pays homage to Fifth Avenue). Unveiled November 22, this year’s sparkly dioramas feature iconic New York City landmarks like Washington Square Park and the New York Public Library.

Did You Know? Bergdorf Goodman’s holiday windows are so famous that when the store released a limited edition coffee table book it sold out in a heartbeat. The used market wasted no time selling it secondhand for an exorbitant sum. (Had I been drinking water when I saw the price, I would have choked.)

Behind the magic is David Hoey, the mastermind who has been designing displays for Bergdorf Goodman since 1996. Describing himself as “part architect, part cake designer,” Hoey is a huge proponent of maximalism, believing the windows should be enjoyed from every angle: from a child’s eye level, up close, from a passing cab, or across the street.

His displays are as much about scale as they are about detail—each one telling a story that you can only fully appreciate by taking a moment to absorb every layer.

Frivolous and witty, Hoey leads a stable of artists: five full-time workers and a roster of freelance carpenters, puppeteers, prop artist, illustrators and other creatives. In total, more than 100 people have a hand in bringing these holiday masterpieces to life each year.

Here’s a look at this year’s mind-boggling windows, enjoy!
