There’s something so calming about packing up and leaving the city for a few days. We love New York, but stepping away always makes us appreciate it even more. Watching the skyline come back into view on the drive home (especially after a few days of ocean air and slower mornings) is always a pinch-me moment.
A few months ago, our friends Lauren and Addison invited us to celebrate Easter at their home in the Hamptons. (You might remember we spent the Fourth of July with them last summer!)
Our friends Matt and Mikey were driving up Thursday afternoon and offered us a ride. We debated whether to take the train since Caroline isn’t the biggest fan of car seats (in her defense, she’s only been in one four times in her 7.5 months of life).
After weighing the pros and cons, we decided to catch a ride with the guys around Caroline’s bedtime, hoping the timing would help her fall asleep without too much fuss. Thankfully, it worked.
We arrived late Thursday evening and gave ourselves a slow start on Friday. Half the group had the day off, so we split into two camps: one stayed back to work, and the rest of us headed out to explore.
We started with coffee and breakfast sandwiches, then made our way to the beach for a long walk. On the way back, we passed an endearing little lobster shack and decided to stop for lunch.
Later that day, we drove up to Sag Harbor to stroll the town and pop into a few shops. We grabbed coffee at Sagtown (highly recommend) and did a bit of window shopping (we’d forgotten Caroline’s sunhat at home!).
Since it was still early, we settled in at Kidd Squid Brewery. I love this spot, mostly because it shares a space with a plant nursery. The blooming hyacinths were intoxicating.
We kept dinner easy that night with pizzas and a round of board games. It was one of those relaxed Fridays that felt like exactly what we needed after a long week.
Saturday started with a Costco run to prep for dinner with Lauren and Addison’s new neighbors, who were bringing their 1.5-year-old and 4-month-old. While we cooked, we opened a special bottle of champagne we had picked up in Épernay during our group Paris trip for Lauren’s birthday two years ago - it was so special!
When the guests arrived, it was really fun watching Caroline process everything. She was quiet but observant, completely fascinated by the other kids.

Sunday was slow and relaxed. We made brunch at home, then headed out for a beach walk. It was windy, so we didn’t stay long, and ended the outing with a drink at a local spot with a great view. When we got back, half the group went down for a nap while the rest of us made dinner.
Caroline was a champ all weekend. She’s still a little cautious around new faces, but as long as mom and dad were nearby, she was all smiles.
Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend as well, cheers!
