Hello from paradise! Nobody is more surprised than me about my recent week-long trip to Florida. I’m not the pool-lounging sort, but we needed to escape the cold and the three hour flight was tantalizing.
As soon as we checked into the hotel, we made a beeline for the pool. From there, our days were a mix of beach time and lounging by the pool. The highlight? Introducing Caroline to the ocean—I’m convinced that little sandy baby toes are the best thing in the entire world (photo at the end!).
The vacation was perfect and we came home fully refreshed. Funny enough, we were only gone for a week, but I was ready to get back — chilly weather and all!
It was 15°F when we landed at JFK and I only packed sandals for the trip 🤪 not my smartest move, I’ll tell you that. But details belong to the past.
I’ve been consistent about sharing my weekend recaps but haven’t done a proper “life in NYC” post for a while, I’d love to share the top five highlights from winter so far.
Falling in love with the Met all over again
When we moved to NYC, one of the first things we did was snag a membership to the Met. We turned it into a Sunday morning tradition, and after a year of wandering through the museum’s endless halls, we found ourselves enthralled.
My sister and brother-in-law gifted us a membership for the following year, and we kept the weekend ritual going. But this year we decided to pause the membership to explore other museums. And you know what? I miss the Met! So we swing by sporadically when the urge strikes, the museum is a masterpiece!
Snow!!
We’ve had a handful of snow days but I’m waiting for more! The city is SO beautiful with a fresh blanket of snow, even the most mundane errands feel special (groceries, laundry, etc.). Everything looks so peaceful, I love it.
Frequenting our local beer bar
Lately I’m into super hoppy IPAs. Thankfully, our local beer bar stocks some killer options. The Hoptimist is an easy-going neighborhood haunt with great craft beers on tap and an exciting selection of bottles from New York breweries. The service is great and the vibes are relaxed, we enjoy visiting Friday afternoons to cap off the work week.
Empty strolls through Central Park
The holiday season is well behind us and the city feels peak calm, nowhere is this more evident than Central Park. I've been starting most days with a walk through the park and can’t get over how empty it is! I’m enjoying it while it lasts, the blossoms will be poking through in no time.
Planning vacation
We don’t have any concrete plans for international travel this year (yet), but the mere idea of traveling again has me excited! If it were up to me, we’d re-visit Paris and Rome this year - let’s see if that shakes out.
Op, baby is waking up, gotta run! Signing off with some sandy baby toes for your enjoyment, cheers!
