They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions—and I decided to toss another log on the fire. Will left for a week-long work trip last Wednesday, and I’ve been on solo parenting duty from 6am to 7/8pm.
That delicious final hour of the day was supposed to go toward work. Instead, I spent it knee-deep in parenting forums, searching for answers to very important questions like, ‘Can a baby eat goat cheese?’ ‘Is it normal for a baby to love Brown Bear, Brown Bear so much?’ and ‘Will I ever sleep again?’
Apart from these burning questions, I’m happy to report that our days have been leisurely and enjoyable.

Smiley and bright, Little C has been a real team player and is making solo parenting easy on me. You might remember my dilemma with her feeding setup (our apartment is too small for a bulky high chair) but I’m happy to report we found a solution: we landed on this orthopedic-recommended feeding chair.
Logistics sorted, we spent the past week trying some new foods. We’re both learning a lot—carrot purée is for painting, peanut butter is the love of her life, and oatmeal is apparently a no-go on Tuesdays but totally fine on Wednesdays. It’s been great so far, no complaints here!
The highlight of my day has been our daily walk. Before sleep training, we’d head out first thing in the morning. But now that we’re in the big leagues and Caroline’s crib nap takes priority, we usually leave the house after her first nap —sometime around 10/11am (depending on how wild the afterparty was the night before).
After an obligatory stop for coffee (the folks at the café dote on her—she scored a sticker on Tuesday!), we make loops around the neighborhood, sometimes dipping into Central Park, sometimes not.
I’ve noticed that Caroline LOVES live music, which is why Strawberry Fields is on constant rotation in our arsenal. Another favorite stop is Bethesda Terrace, where we caught the tail-end of a marching band on Saturday. We meander until she starts stirring, then head home. We’re usually out for two hours at a time, soaking up the fresh air.
Both the neighborhood and the park are bursting with blooms—it’s gorgeous right now. I think Cherry Hill hit peak bloom yesterday, so it’s the perfect time to visit before the upcoming rain and wind blow the delicate petals down.
On that note, here are some random spring photos from my phone, if you’d like to see.
Cheers!
