So, we found a pretty cool hotel lobby bar this weekend
A quick recap from a fun weekend with our friends, Matt & Mikey.
The weather was SO gorgeous on Saturday! We spent a few hours bopping around the neighborhood before getting smart and realizing we’d have more fun with some friends in tow.
So we texted our friends Matt & Mikey to see if they wanted to meet up for drinks and (thankfully!) they said “yep.”
The only thing left to decide was the locale. After some searching, we landed on the The Lobby Bar (at the Ludow Hotel) in the Lower East Side.
Mostly because they had a fireplace (odd for a sunny day, but the sun sets at like 4pm right now). Holy cow, had no idea it was SO charming inside!
Also, the cocktails were excellent. Matt said the dirty martini was in his “top 5” for the city (and he’s lived here for a decade).
We originally intended to stay for 2 hours, but ended up lingering for 4+. This is exactly why I’d argue that hotel lobby bars are the BEST spots to meet up with friensds.
My husband brought his beloved national park deck of cards and we played a few rounds of games before food became more important than coming across the coveted Ace.
One friend suggested a new place called Foul Witch, an Italian restaurant from the masterminds behind Roberta’s Pizza (our favorite pizza in NYC).
As can be expected, there was no way in hell we’d get a table (spoiler alert: we didn’t), but not for lack of trying.
We confirmed our placement on the 2 hour waitlist before popping over to a nearby pizza shop for a few slices (we’ve all lived in NYC long enough to know we wouldn’t get a call back).
Booths, 90’s music, boozy friends and lukewarm pizza — is there anything more New York than that?
On the way home we kept passing by the remaining stock of Christmas trees on various blocks. And dang, this city really shows up for the holidays.
As for Sunday, the weather sucked, so we stayed home most of the day (some days are like that too).
Hope you had a great weekend! Cheers!
