Visiting the Breathtaking West Side Community Garden
An annual tradition I anticipate every year
One of the perks of walking the neighborhood daily is stumbling upon random gems. A few years ago, while exploring the northern reaches of the Upper West Side, we discovered the West Side Community Garden. With time to spare, we wandered through the small lot and were impressed by the budding tulips everywhere so we made a mental note to return later in the season to see them in full glory.
Located at 89th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenue, the small community garden is definitely worth the trek if your’e visiting NYC in late April. Swarmed with locals, we happily joined the mix and have made it an annual tradition. This year, we were especially excited to share the garden with Little C, who was fascinated by all the colors!
Here’s some photos if you’d like to see!
Little Life Updates
Caroline is learning to crawl, but that can't be right, can it? Wasn't she just born yesterday? She’s in the army crawl stage right now, and we’ve started baby-proofing the living room (goodbye coffee table, hello tufted ottoman).
I’m a little perplexed by the lack of children's books with dads as the theme. Caroline loves Llama Llama Red Pajama, but Will is such a great dad! I wanted Little C to have a book she could read with a dad as the main parent. After some trial and error, we landed on this sweet book, and I think it’s in my top five favorite books! We read it several times a day, and the illustrations are so cute!
Will is leaving for a week-long work trip next week, so my mom is flying out. I’m working on an itinerary for her visit and am so excited to take her to a few new spots we’ve discovered over the past few months, especially La Bomboniera on the Upper East Side!
Hope you’re having a great start to your week, cheers!
Antonina
