I’ve been sick as a dog these past few days. For whatever reason, I tend to get sick in the summer (do not recommend!). Luckily, I managed to spend a good amount of time outside earlier in the week before the fever kicked in. The neighborhood feels surprisingly calm for this time of year, even Central Park has been pretty manageable.
I’m definitely starting to get the itch for a vacation though (maybe because I’m bed-bound at the moment?). We don’t have anything on the books yet, but we keep circling the same debate: city vs. beach. We were both solidly city vacationers before Caroline joined the party, but when we took her to Florida for four days last January, I saw the appeal of lounging poolside all day.
Still, I think I prefer cities to beaches. My ideal destinations right now: Rome, Bordeaux, Oahu, or Kyoto. I need a little shake-up, and summer feels like the right time to do it (assuming the heat doesn’t get too obnoxious).
On that note, here’s a little roundup of photos from NYC, where the heat is being obnoxious. There’s a Heat Advisory in effect as I write this. But still! There’s nothing like summer in the city.

Spot the baby toes in the video below! We came across this little kids performance during Open Streets on the Upper West Side.
Cheers!
