Introductions are always awkward, but here we are.
We haven’t officially met (yet), so allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Antonina and I’m one of the folks behind New York Simply, a website that seeks to demystify the Big Apple through helpful guides.
(Is your mom a nervous traveler? If so, she’ll love the site).
The long and short of it is this: You’re getting this email because you stumbled upon our website 100 years ago and signed up for the newsletter (thank you!).
However, since starting this little passion project along with a handful of friends (1.5 years ago, mind you), I’ve sent exactly 1 email (spoiler alert: it’s this one).
So first and foremost — my apologies. Between my regular job, weekends spent writing NYC guides and the happy hour deal at Dante (pictured above), I’ve been a tad tied up.
So let’s shake things up and get this newsletter underway so my friends don’t pull a Steve Jobs on yours truly.
Longtime readers of New York Simply know we’re not keen on small talk, so let’s keep the introduction short and sweet.
My hope is to write a newsletter once a week rounding up some gems, fun recommendations, and tidbits of helpful information (with a minimal amount of typos, to boot).
I’ll also include some personal recommendations a few of the most helpful guides from the week.
If interested, the most popular guides from this past week have been:
10 Great Gluten Free Bakeries (I’m eating a bagel from this gem as I type - ha!)
Fun NYC Fact (Did you know)?
Speaking of Central Park.
Having been featured in more than 530 movie credits (and counting) Central Park is the most filmed location in the world by a mile. For example, the second most filmed location in the world is Trafalgar Square in London, but it’s only been featured in 131 movie credits.
One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.

Summer is in full swing and while the mugginess adds an indisputable level of discomfort, “there’s nothing like summer in the city.”
Well folks, that’s all I have for you this week.
Next week I’ll share a few of my favorite photos of summer thus far. Oh, and maybe the week after that we can go over fall photo in preparation for autumn? (Don’t hate me too much, but fall in NYC is pure bliss!).
Same time, same place next week?
Antonina
Beautiful pic of the Bow Bridge!!!!!🩷🩷🩷
